Black Friday is just two days away and every store in the country has been whipping people into a frenzy about the amazing sales and deals they’re offering. This annual retail ritual has plenty of detractors, and with good reason. And with recent revelations that some Black Friday deals are mediocre at best and somewhat misleading at worst, it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed at midnight to go stand in line in the cold.
But budgets are tight and gadgets are tempting and there are some good deals to be had. In order to keep you sane and warm this holiday weekend, TechBargains has published some handy tips for getting the most out of Black Friday and, in some cases, doing so without leaving the house.
For instance, many of the deals are available online as well as in the store. You’ll still have to be up early, but you don’t even have to get out of bed. Just turn on your laptop and shop away. Also, some of the deals begin at midnight on Thursday (yes, Thanksgiving day), so you can score everything you want early and spend the rest of the weekend relaxing.
If you’re worried that the deals in the store might be better than the ones online, TechBargains says that’s a myth. And even if the in-store price is, say, $20 less, just think of the gas money you’ll save by not driving. Shipping deals are often in full effect, and you may not have to pay sales tax.
