If RIM has an OS 6 device in its pocket, it might want to roll it out sooner than later. According to a just-released survey from ChangeWave Research, just 6 percent of future smart phone buyers plan to buy a BlackBerry during the next 90 days, compared with 14 percent just three months ago. Meanwhile, Apple’s numbers have jumped from 31 percent to a whopping 52 percent (albeit before the “death grip” controversy blew up), and HTC’s numbers have also surged to 19 percent (up from 12 percent). What does this mean for RIM?

It means that the company needs to get its act in gear and do more than tease consumers with what its future looks like. It needs to launch its next-generation BlackBerrys and prove that its lineup can be every bit as sexy as what Apple and the Android camp offers. If those numbers aren’t stressful enough, this same survey says that less than a third of BlackBerry owners are very satisfied with their current phone. The iPhone is at 73 percent, followed by HTC (39%), Motorola (34%), Palm, and LG (31%). This is RIM’s seventh consecutive quarterly decline.

What say you, BlackBerry owners? Are you jumping ship?
