As I’ve noted in the past, installing OS X on the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is relatively easy. Getting everything to work properly is another story. Fortunately Felix at NetbookTech has put together a great tutorial for installing OS X and configuring it to work with the Lenovo IdeaPad S10’s 1024 x 600 display and WiFi adapter.

There are a few things that won’t work, including sound and power management (ie: you can put your hackintosh to sleep, but it won’t wake up again. The Ethernet adapter also doesn’t work, and it’s important to note that when you first load OS X the WiFi won’t work either, so you’ll need a USB flash drive in order to load files onto your S10.

The entire process makes use of the MSIWindosx86.iso file which you can probably find floating around the interwebs if you look around a bit. But eagle eyed readers will note that this version of OS X was patched to work with the MSI Wind netbook. While it’s certainly similar to the Lenovo IdeaPad S10, there are some differences, which probably explains why not everything works perfectly. Perhaps we’ll see an s10osx86 or a dellminix86 version in the not too distant future.

And it probably goes without saying, but installing OS X on non-Apple hardware isВ  violation of Apple’s licensing agreements (as is downloading the operating system install disc from the internet). If it helps you sleep at night, you might want to think about purchasing a legal install disc if you’re going to perform this hack.
