HP is cashing in on the nettop craze we’ve been hearing so much about lately. Basically a nettop is to a desktop computer what a netbook is to a laptop. Nettops are generally cheaper, smaller, and less powerful than your typical desktop PC. But they’re good for computer buyers on a budget, or people looking for a low power machine that will help save a few bucks on the electric bill.

HP unveiled its new Compaq mini-Q line of nettops in Taiwan this week. The mini-Q 2030 packs a dual core Intel Atom 330 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB, 7200rpm HDD, a dual-layer DVD burner, and Windows Vista. It will cost about 12,900NT or $386 US. Or for about $90 less, HP is offering the mini-Q 2020 which has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 230 single core CPU, 1GB of RAM, and Windos XP.

Both machines will be available initially in Taiwan, although Isuspect we’ll see them show up in other markets soon.
