foxconn-linpusFoxconn is demonstrating its new SZ901 netbook, which looks a lot like most other netbooks when it comes to hardware. It has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and a 10.1 inch display. But what makes this laptop special is that it’s the first machine I’ve seen that runs the latest version of Linpus Linux Lite which is based on Moblin 2.0, a custom netbook Linux distro backed by Intel and managed by the Linux Foundation.

Sascha from Netbook News.de got a chance to check out an SZ901 in person and he shot a little video, which you can watch after the page break. He covers the hardware more than the software in this video, but you can see Linpus booting up near the end.

No word on a price or release date. I’m guessing that we’ll see rebranded versions of this netbook in the future, possibly provided by telecoms. The netbook features a built in 3G module for connecting to UMTS networks.
