Unless Motorola plans to announce that it has discovered small green aliens on September 10th, our money is that this date is reserved for an Android smart phone announcement. At least, based upon an invitation we just received in our inbox.

Invites for an event in San Francisco have been going around today from Motorola, and plastered right on it is a small Google Android logo. While there aren’t any specs of the phone yet, Boy Genius suspects that it could be the rumored Shules (or Sholes) smart phone, which Engadget Mobile recently speculated could see a Verizon Wireless launch.
